On the Fourth of July, my whole family on my dad’s side went to the lake for the weekend. We got there Thursday night. All of my cousins were there and so were my grandparents. I remember all of the kids walking off the high dive as if they could walk on air. The cold lake was relief from the hot summer sun that felt like a desert. It was so much fun when we went tubing. The tube burned felt like fire on our skin, but after a it had flipped the water made it feel cool. On Saturday we had a huge cookout fit for a king. The smell of the barbeque and baked beans was mouth-watering. It was fun because everyone got to eat together. The whole weekend the sound of little kids splashing in the water and laughing filled the air. There was also a boat parade and people decorated their boats and rode around the lake so everyone could see them. People also decorated their docks and the boats judged the docks. Our dock came in first place because it was decorated very well. Then that night we had a party and a lot of people came over to watch us do the fireworks. We had so many fireworks. They were like rockets shooting off in the sky. They were so loud I could barely hear myself think. Then on Sunday everyone said their goodbyes and we went home. It was fun to get to see all of my cousins because I don’t see them a lot. It was a fun weekend at the lake.
